RIDES

 

Here at Lakes Bikes we all love cycling and want everyone else to feel the same, so we have introduced some Group Rides that cater to everyones needs from beginners  - Lakes Bikes Beginners Course Ride to a social group ride - Lakes Bikes freeway ride. For the more competitive riders that want to push themselves further there is The Roadies Ride (NOT an official Lakes Bikes ride).   You will see listed below each ride and course so please feel free to come along and enjoy cycling as all of us at Lakes Bikes do.

BEGINNERS RIDE - 4 Week Course (Bookings are essential)

Commencing 9.00am sharp Saturday 7th Januarary 

“New to Cycling? Interested in Cycling for Fitness, Triathlon or Racing?

Or     Just want to learn to Ride Safely in a Group?  

If you are 14 years old or over and have a Flat Bar Road Bike or Racer then this ride is for you. 

Commencing 9.00am sharp Saturday 7th January 2012 at the front of the store, Lakes Bikes is starting a Beginners Ride to help guys and girls explore the joy of cycling. Your tutors come from a cycling family with both Cycle Racing and Triathlon backgrounds, and are experienced in developing casual group rides since the late eighties.

 Each Course will be over 4 weeks and best of all, It’s FREE!!

 What you will learn:

·         Basic bike safety

.         Learn how to safety check your bicycle prior to every ride

·         Spinning to fitness

·         Riding safely in a group

·         The benefit of the right clothing and gear


Each week:

·         you will safety check your bicycle prior to every ride (you will learn this week one)

·         5-10 minute chat on key learnings for the day followed by a brief Q&A, then

·         45 – 60 minute ride on the Freeway Cycleway - practice riding in a group

·         Lakes Bikes Tutors will ride with the group providing riders with safety and practical knowledge

 

What you will need to bring:

·         A safe maintained Road Bike (Flat Bar or Racer)

·         Bike Helmet (not damaged)

·         Close fitting light clothing

·         Firm Sports or Cycling Shoes

·         A full water bottle

·         Spare tube and tyre levers

·         Mobile Phone (to phone a friend if needed)

·         A sense of humour and preparation to be challenged

 

 To make a booking:

We will contact riders booked in for this course 2 weeks prior to confirm your booking.

 

During the Course Lakes Bikes’ Riders will be available to assist you to take your new skills to a club or into the Lakes Bikes Freeway group ride.

LAKES BIKES FREEWAY RIDE - Distance 30km

The Lakes Bikes freeway ride has returned. 

Every Saturday morning meeting directing in front of Lakes Bikes - Roll out 7am Sharp

The ride will leave from Lakes Bikes and will follow the Freeway heading north, we will turn off and ride towards Canning bridge along the river ending up at Toscanini's Cafe for a Coffee. After this stop over we will head back along the same route and end up back at Lakes Bikes. Riding distance is about 30km so come along and enjoy the ride.

ROADIES RIDE - Distance 50km and 32kms avg

Every Saturday morning meeting to the left hand side of Lakes Bikes on the paved area - Roll out 7am Sharp

The Roadies Ride is for competitive riders that want to push themselves further. If you have group ride experience and feel confident riding medium distances in a group than this is the ride for you. Please be advised The Roadies Ride is not an official Lakes Bikes ride.
